About

Hi, I’m iury. (I usually write my name using lowercase characters because I’ve been called Lury more times than I care to count)

I’m a software engineer/developer trained in 42 São Paulo.

Before diving into the software industry, I was an economist/data scientist at Brazil Stock and Exchange Commision where I worked for 9 years. There I conducted financial investigations regarding investment funds and advisors, produced research papers that were used by the board of directors to create and revoke regulation, analyzed stock exchange trading data in order to identify market manipulation and dabbled in monitoring of anti-money laundering processes of brokers and dealers.

I also worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Applied Economic Research when I was fresh out of college (I have a bachelor degree in Economics from University of Brasília).

I was enrolled in a masters degree in University of São Paulo where I studied Probability, Econometrics and was aiming to write a thesis of functional regression of time series data. I did not finish it, though.

When it comes to software developement, my training was done in C, C++ and Bash, mostly. After that I focused on Python and C#/.NET. I like GNU/Linux, databases, devops and to avoid using cloud managed services because I like the hassle of fighting with my own instances in order to get them to work.

Welcome to my little corner on the internet.
